Rick Wakeman to play London's Southbank Centre

Rick Wakeman has confirmed an intimate show at London’s Southbank Centre on February 4, as part of the Orion Orchestra’s 10th anniversary.

He’ll perform pieces from throughout his career and intersperse the music with anecdotes from his lifetime on the road and in the studio.

The keyboard maestro is joined by the Orion Orchestra, conducted by Toby Purser and guest conductor Guy Protheroe, vocalists Sarbel and Katerina Mina, the Old Palace School Choir and the Carinal Vaughan Schola Cantorum.

The show takes place in the venue’s Queen Elizabeth Hall and tickets are on sale now. Wakeman headlines this year’s HRH Prog festival in North Wales on March 19-22.

Not only is one-time online news editor Martin an established rock journalist and drummer, but he’s also penned several books on music history, including SAHB Story: The Tale of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band, a band he once managed, and the best-selling Apollo Memories about the history of the legendary and infamous Glasgow Apollo. Martin has written for Classic Rock and Prog and at one time had written more articles for Louder than anyone else (we think he's second now). He’s appeared on TV and when not delving intro all things music, can be found travelling along the UK’s vast canal network.
