Idlewild launch Scottish Fiction craft beer

Indie rockers Idlewild have launched their own craft ale.

Titled Scottish Fiction IPA, it was made in conjunction with Edinburgh brewers Barney’s Beer and is limited to just 1250 bottles. It will be sold in independent beer and wine stores throughout Scotland.

Every bottle of the beer, which is named after their track from 2002 album The Remote Part, comes with a download code for an acoustic version of A Film For The Future.

Frontman Roddy Woomble says: “Idlewild are a band of committed and enthusiastic craft beer and ale drinkers and Barney’s Beer has been a favourite for quite a while.”

Idlewild are holding a free listening party at Edinburgh’s Summerhall on February 6 where they’ll showcase eighth album Everything Ever Written which is released on February 9. Tickets are available via Eventbrite and the IPA will be available on the night.

Idlewild are the latest band to release their own beer. Iron Maiden recently announced they’d be exporting their Trooper beer to the US after being available in the UK since 2013. Aussie giants AC/DC also have their own lager which was recently rebranded for the launch of their latest album Rock Or Bust.

Idlewild will hit the road for a seven-date UK and Ireland tour in March.
