Barney Greenway reflects on his life with Napalm Death

Vocalist Mark 'Barney' Greenway says he's had a "good and varied" life in Napalm Death – but he's got many years ahead

Mark 'Barney' Greenway has reflected on humanity and his career with Napalm Death.

The vocalist, who has long been outspoken on politics, religion and social issues, says he's tried to live a "good and varied life" – and the majority of good times he's had have been during his tenure with the band.

He tells FreqsTV: "Life isn't always easy for anybody. I've tried along the way to have a good and varied life. Variety is definitely the spice of life.

"If I can look back on my life and say I've done it and lived it – and by doing Napalm, I've done pretty much a large percentage of all the good stuff that I could do – then I can be pretty fucking content.

"I'm only in my 40s and I've got lots of life left to live – hopefully a very varied and exciting existence."

In the wake of tragedies happening across the globe, Greenway adds that he'd like to remind society that everyone is a human being, "first and foremost," and that "everything else comes after."

He adds: "Identity, what does that mean? I see people as people.

"It's a fucked up world out there, no question. We're just trying to make the best of it.

"If we truly understand what it is to be a human being, the root of that, hopefully we can move on from this idea about having no boundaries, and what you'd do to another person to get ahead – sometimes literally killing.

"I wanna get away from that – I wanna live in a world where everyone can live in dignity, happiness and peace. That means a lot to me."

Napalm Death will play a run of shows in Japan before hitting the road in France later in the month.
