Magenta Announce UK Tour Dates, New Album And Live DVD
Welsh proggers celebrate 15th anniversary with biggest ever UK tour
Magenta have announced their biggest ever UK tour for Spring 2017. It will be in support of both the band's 15th Anniversary, and their latest, as yet untitled album. The follow-up to 2013's Twenty Seven Club will be released in April 2017, and alongside the core trio of Rob Reed, Christina Booth and Chris Fry will also feature guest drummer Andy Edwards (Kiama, Frost*, IQ). The forthcoming new album reportedly sees Reed leading Magenta back into long-form musical territory.
"We haven't played live a huge amount in the last couple of years, so it will be great to get back on the road for an extended series of dates and play pieces from the new album alongside some of our older material," Reed told Prog.
In a particularly busy period for the band, Magenta will also release a live DVD, Live At Leamington Spa, on November 12, and the band will perform a special acoustic show at Cardiff's Acapela Studios.
The band will play:
Cardiff Acapela Studios (acoustic show) - November 12
Cardiff The Globe - March 31
Wath Montgomery Hall - April 1
Bilston The Robin - April 2
London Boston Music Rooms - April 8
Southampton Talking Heads - April 9
St. Helens The Citadel - May 13.
In the meantime Rob Reed will perform his Sanctuary Project live for the first time with a 10-piece band at Real World Studios on October 8.
