Eerie’s curious mix of black metal and wah-wah-drenched heavy 70s psych will no doubt have many BM purists calling foul, whilst anyone familiar with the current TeePee Records roster will revel in the bizarrely successful merging of minds.

Featuring members of Twilight, Witch, Futur Skullz and Pins Of Light, this aptly named band create a gloomy sonic soundscape of acid-drenched prog and mountainous proto-metal with an atmospheric black metal skeleton.

Lengthy jams of searing leads and spooky, cavernous grooves reminiscent of early Witch reaches above passages of repetitive BM clamour, vocals wail from behind the mix evoking scenes from Poltergeist, whilst clattering drums gallop along to set an uneasy pace – a mixture that often sounds chaotic but results in a satisfyingly disorientating psychedelic climax. After repeated listens Eerie’s layered approach sinks in so even the most hard-hearted misanthrope may appreciate that the often sacredly regarded sound is handled tastefully. An effective mixing of genres creating a perfectly heavy cosmic slop. The ideal soundtrack to a haunted house party.
